Abha International Airport has secured a major global achievement, ranking third worldwide for on-time flight performance in October 2025, according to the latest CIRIUM report. The airport recorded an impressive 92.40% on-time departure rate, placing it among the top-performing airports internationally.
The accomplishment highlights Abha Airport’s growing operational efficiency and enhanced passenger service standards. It also supports the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Aviation Program and strengthens the airport’s role as a key gateway for the rapidly expanding tourism sector in the Aseer Region.
The latest ranking comes as Abha Airport prepares for a major transformation following the announcement of its new master plan. The upcoming airport will deliver a substantial expansion in capacity, infrastructure and overall travel experience.
The new terminal—designed to reflect the cultural and architectural heritage of the Aseer Region—will cover 65,000 square meters, significantly larger than the current 14,500-square-meter facility. Passengers can expect modern boarding bridges, advanced self-service systems and upgraded travel amenities throughout the new complex.
Once completed, the new Abha International Airport will boost annual passenger capacity to over 13 million, up from the present 1.8 million, and increase annual flights to more than 90,000, tripling the current volume of approximately 30,000 flights per year.
