İGA Istanbul Airport has welcomed Air Transat’s new non-stop flight from Toronto, expanding transatlantic links between Canada and Türkiye and adding another carrier to the airport’s growing roster.
The launch makes Air Transat the ninth new airline to join İGA’s network in 2025, bringing the total number of scheduled passenger airlines operating at the airport to 116, according to İGA.
At a launch event attended by Air Transat executives, İGA Istanbul Airport Chief Commercial Officer Server Aydın said the new service strengthens Istanbul’s connectivity with the Americas and is expected to support tourism and trade between Türkiye and Canada, while reinforcing Istanbul’s role as a major international hub.
Air Transat Chief Revenue Officer Sebastian Ponce said the Toronto–Istanbul route reflects the airline’s strategy to operate a year-round service that reduces seasonality and improves fleet utilization. He also pointed to Air Transat’s partnership with Turkish Airlines as a way to support growth while managing investment risk, and highlighted demand from travellers visiting friends and relatives, as well as onward connections beyond Istanbul.
Air Transat will operate the route using an Airbus A330-200. Flights from Toronto to Istanbul are scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with an additional Thursday flight from May 2026. Return flights from Istanbul to Toronto operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, with an additional Friday flight from May 2026.
İGA Istanbul Airport said it now serves more than 330 destinations worldwide and highlighted recent recognition from industry and travel organisations for connectivity and passenger experience.
