Etihad Airways has confirmed that all scheduled commercial passenger flights to and from Abu Dhabi will remain suspended until 14:00 UAE time on Wednesday, 4 March, as regional airspace disruptions continue to impact operations across the Middle East.
The airline said the temporary suspension is part of precautionary measures taken in coordination with UAE authorities to ensure passenger and crew safety amid ongoing regional instability and restricted airspace access.
While commercial passenger services are paused, Etihad noted that select repositioning, cargo, and repatriation flights may operate during this period. These flights will be conducted only in coordination with relevant UAE authorities and subject to strict operational and safety approvals.
The carrier emphasised that safety remains its highest priority and that normal operations will resume only once all regulatory and security conditions are fully satisfied.
Etihad strongly advised passengers not to travel to the airport unless they have been directly contacted by the airline and specifically instructed to do so.
Guests are encouraged to:
-
Check their flight status on the official Etihad website before heading to the airport.
-
Ensure their contact details are correctly updated in their booking to receive the latest notifications.
-
Passengers holding Etihad tickets issued on or before 28 February 2026, for travel up to 7 March 2026, may rebook free of charge on Etihad-operated flights until 18 March 2026.
-
Request a refund for flights scheduled until 7 March 2026 via the airline’s official refund request platform or through their travel agent.
-
Contact their travel agent directly if their booking was made through an agency.
Etihad stated that its customer service centres are currently experiencing a significant surge in calls. The airline has asked passengers for patience, noting that response times may be longer than usual. Guests seeking refunds are encouraged to use the online refund form to expedite processing.
The suspension comes amid widespread airspace closures across parts of the Middle East, affecting multiple airlines and thousands of passengers. Several regional carriers have either cancelled, rerouted, or delayed flights as aviation authorities reassess safety conditions in affected corridors.
Etihad reiterated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as conditions evolve.
